In the 4th of 5 lessons in this series, Jerry blocks in the shape of the boat and sail. He discusses the proper technique for painting white by using a gray underpainting, and he demonstrates the technique while using a chisel brush. After blocking in the white, he mixes Alizarin Crimson and Dioxazine Purple to create the underpainting for the red portion of the sails. Carefully creating the light and dark values of the white and the red portions of the sail. He then blocks in the cabin and adds glazes to the water and shows the importance of adding light to the water (even at night) and how to properly connect it through the use of negative space.
